Woot finally finished!!

Sorted out the decals a bit from the last one and a few other things :D.

This scene has
2670 Polys
5470 Tris
4 lights
9 Diffuse (3 with alphas)
3 Normals
3 Speculars
Rendered using Mental Ray
Created in 3dsMax, Crazybump and Photoshop.

Decided to not follow the photo I was given since I can’t work out the textures very well, but since the scene looks very Assassins Creed 2, I’ve been researching into the buildings from the game and real buildings like it. It is still inspired by the photo, so some elements are the same (like the roofing).

This scene is low poly to work in a games engine.

Oh and a BIG thankies to all that helped me and gave me feedback!

Woot so close to finishing..

Quick update, sorry it took so long >_< started making puppets since I all do most of the time is play games (I was chosen for WoW Catcalysm Beta, WooT! I’m totally in love with the Goblins!) or model (and go out from time to time). Tis nice to get away from the pc a little.

Anyway above is a little update from a day ago and below is the nearly finished version I worked on last night. I made the arch less shiney, since rocks don’t shine like that and sorted out the floor a bit more. Also changed the lighting a little and pulled the church in the distance out of the dark.

Once I get some feedback on the lower one and possibly changed a few things, I’ll call this one finished and move on to the next

Another WIP and getting better.

Learning alot from doing this project and making sure I dont  get distracted (I’ve already planned out my next project ><).

Here be a update, the scene SO FAR is under 5500 tri’s but I’m guessing the final scene will have around 6000 tri’s, so not too bad. Will post a wired render of it when I’ve finished.

Been given some awesome feedback so far and hopefully the next render will be alot better, going to have 2 floor textures instead of just one so it doesn’t tile, moving the church back a bit, get some foilage in there and lastly DECALS!

CRYENGINE UPDATE…

On another note, I thought I’d try and fix the fabled Cryengine Manor… and.. I think I did it.. WOOT! Shame I gotta use the Cryengine that came with Crysis now instead of the development version. Hopefully more to come on that and I might try and make it into a playable level.

a little bit of lighting…

Nearly there, a few tweeks needed on the textures but I’m nearly there. Decals and foilage coming next. Need to make the buildings meeting the floor look less sharp, at the moment it looks weird.

oooOoooo Perty…

Another sneak peek at my texturing work, been messing around with some perty detail for the archway.

Also been playing with normal maps, displacement maps and specular, need to set up the lighting to see if it works properly though, but it looks oki with the skylight setup. I’m actually starting to enjoy texturing (unwrapping and editing the texture). I suprised I’ve only used 1 diffuse so far, will have 2 since the Church really needs a different texture, otherwise its going to look a bit bland, even with the decals. DECALS FTW!

Texture me please.

Sneek peek at my texturing. Decided to try a different approach as I can’t make out half the textures on the image I was given. Ever since I was given the image I though Assassins Creed, SO I decided to research into AC buildings and how they look. So far I’ve used 1  – 1024×1024 texture. Its good to share! :P From what I’ve learnt from doing the Criterion test many many months ago that the less textures you have the better. Will probably have about 3 when I finish this scene PLUS a few decals to make the buildings not look so “samey”, since they look way too similar at the moment.

Realistic-ness

In this project, I’m trying to mimic a photograph that was found by my friend on National Geographic

Here is my WIP, I think I’m all ready to texture.

Halloween-lo-ween

Is off to Disneyland Paris for Halloween!! Ain’t that so amazing! I’ve been wanting to go since I started visiting Disneyland, must be.. hmm 8 year now maybe? I know I’ve visited at LEAST 10 times, nuts aint I and I NEVER get bored for some reason. I re-energise myself and my creativity there and love the atmosphere, its so perfect and you don’t have to go on the rides to enjoy yourself.

If you haven’t guessed, my fave ride is the Haunted Manor, I love everything about it! The Manor iteself, the story, the surrounding area, the enterance room, the queue area.. I could go on and on about it. If I had a choice of dream jobs, anything in the world, I would be a Imagineer! Modelling rides in CG would be amazing, and even designing them! I really wish I did the competition they run every year, but I found out about it too late. Tis a shame really. Maybe I should grab my sketchbook and design my own ride. Hmmm sounds like a plan to me! Also need to design my halloween outfit for the halloween party! So far I have a Pirates outfit designed, was thinking of zombie princess but I’m not sure if they’ll let me into the park with blood all over me or maybe I could mess up my Alice outfit I have a bit. Hmmmmm…. Orrrrrrr go as a mad doctor! So many choices!

Other news, I’ve started applying for QA jobs as well as artist jobs. I really want to get into the industry and wouldn’t mind testing games for a few months or even years. I can continue on with my own CG modelling projects in my own time then. Here’s hoping to get something soon! *fingers crossed*

Also the bocking is going well, I can walk on my own, need to go somewhere with more room next to try running as my garden and inside my house isnt big enough to do that.

Let the Bocking Commence.

Since its been a year and still no job, I need a new hobby! So… I just bought myself some awesome Pro-Jump Jumping Stilts! Weeee and they should arrive tomorrow!

Hopefully this is a start of a new obsession and they don’t end up in a corner.

Hmmm should really go find myself a helmet now.

Woot New PC! Hopefully means new inspiration?

Since my other one was starting to die and Cryengine wasn’t working on it properly, I ended up buying a brand new PC. Its a BEAST! A i7 860 @ 2.80GHz  with a yummy 8Gb of RAM and a Geforce GTX 260. Also finally joined the world of Windows 7 and I’m actually enjoying the experience.

Anyway, hopefully now that my pc is amazing and wont chug like the old one, more screenshots from Cryengine should be coming along soon. I HAVE been working on the Disney Castle, but I’ve been so uninspired, I just don’t know what to do. I also have plans to create a level, might need some help with that one. So far I have Ceri Newnham on board (Concept Artist). If anyone wants to join in, its going to be a very Alice in Wonderland inspired level. I’m thinking of using Cryengine, but might be swayed into using UDK if there’s anyone that knows how to use it. I’m going to try it out soon so that might sway my decision.  Send me a message if you’d like to join in.
